Carlos Branger (El Zaguan) will receive the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award

The Dallas Cowboys have selected Venezuelan entrepreneur Carlos A. Branger as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.

The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the third annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2013 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.

Branger was selected in association with the Cowboys local partner Telemundo as he was among Telemundo's honorees at their annual Hispanic Business Salute hosted at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys will honor Branger on September 22 at their Hispanic Heritage game against the St. Louis Rams.

Branger, Founder and CEO of Zaguán, is a social and business entrepreneur. During his sophomore year attending a top university in Venezuela, Branger co-founded Gente Nueva (New People), a non-profit organization created to address social issues in developing countries.

After graduation, he continued to work full time at Gente Nueva as head of Compartamos (Let's Share) and as a member of the board. During his tenure, Branger was able to mobilize youths, government officials and corporations to provide food and education to more than 1,200 poor families across Venezuela.

Branger has been a member of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce since Zaguán's opening and earned the 2010 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year Award because of his many accomplishments.

Each award recipient will select an organization of their choice that serves the local community to receive a $2,000 donation.

Branger has chosen Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Irving, Texas to receive this donation.
