Reflections... (Why I love Mondays)

Reflections... (Why I love Mondays)

I remember telling my mother about how much I disliked Mondays, about how difficult it was to wake up Monday morning and start the routine all over again. She listened without judgement, as she always does. Then she said that she used to dislike Mondays too, until she decided that she was going to change her attitude and begin to "like" Mondays. Every since that conversation that we had years ago, I too began to like Mondays.

I started thinking about all the positive things about Mondays and made a "mental list" of all the things that I liked about Monday. For one, it's the opportunity to start all over again, especially if you had a not so successful previous week. Mondays also meant that I woke up and that I had another day of life, which is a blessing in itself. Instead of dreading going back to work, I started to feel thankful that I had a job and that I in fact enjoyed my job. I had several other things on my list, but those were the things that stood out to me.

My focus is not so much on Monday, but on our mind-set. We have the ability to make our lives so much happier and less painful if we change our attitude.

I've met a few persons that are so negative that they constantly complain about their jobs, their spouses, their lives and how cruel the world can be. They repel good people and good opportunities from their lives. If they changed their attitude, then maybe they would begin to enjoy their job and their relationships with others around them. Simplistic as it may seem, I believe this to be true.

Rather than see the flaws in others, what is something that can be done to make yourself a better, happier person? Since I'm flawed and about as imperfect as they come, I constantly ask myself that question.

I believe that positivity attracts positivity. My relationships with negative persons don't tend to last. I don't expect every day to be of sunshine, because that is unrealistic, but I do believe that we can make the best out of the time we do have together.

My message is this: embrace Mondays. Embrace every day. You have the ability to make your life so much happier, healthier and meaningful.
