Reflections... (New year, new goals)

Reflections... (New year, new goals)

First of all, happy new year to you all! We are alive, we are here and we are breathing -- most definitely a good way to kick off the new year! I wish you all many blessings and to achieve whatever it is that you hold dearly in your heart -- your wishes and dreams.

Even before the hour turned to 12 a.m. midnight to start 2014, my friends had flooded their social media sites with their wishes and goals for 2014. With that came a few naysayers who criticized those who talked about their goals. Yes, it is hard to "maintain" and stay focused but it can most definitely be done.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to do better and improve yourself -- whether it's reaching your health goals, education goals, family goals, etc. Those are all wonderful. If it's something that you really want and it is your heart's wish to achieve that goal, you can do it! Persistence, focus, a good attitude and a little bit of luck never hurt anybody.

As for the naysayers, don't listen to those who criticize. Only you can live your life. If you can sleep at night with a clear conscience and you feel that you are doing the right thing, why worry? Don't give others the power to bring you down or to control your heart's dreams. Do they possess your heart? No. You do.

I'm happy that many have started the new year with hopes and good wishes. The key is to maintain. I must sound like a broken record by now, but when those challenges arise, your attitude will likely affect the outcome. Visualizing what you want is the first step. The second is figuring out how you are going to achieve your goal and third, is following through -- staying focused and making sure you get there. It's most definitely a journey. The journey might be smooth for some and rough for others but each journey brings forth new experiences and new knowledge. You see, I'm already looking at possible challenges in a positive way!

Will this be the year you achieve what you want? It very well could be. Whatever step you take to achieve something positive is a step in the right direction. Again, ignore negative comments. Think of it as "background noise" that is trying to distract you from achieving your goals. Now, go and get those goals!
