Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon celebrates five years running

DALLAS -- Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday, March 23, announced that rock band American Authors will headline the post-race concert at the finish line festival. Additionally, the race is ringing in the New Year with a special promotion of $20.14 off half marathon registrations from 12 am PST on January 8 to 12 pm PST on January 10 at runrocknroll.com/dallas with code DALLAS2014.

Celebrating five years running, the race combines fitness and fun as the 13.1-mile course is filled with live bands, thousands of spectators and high-energy cheerleaders, including some of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders welcoming participants to the finish line. American Authors will help participants celebrate the day’s accomplishments at the finish line with songs like their chart-topping hit, “Best Day of My Life.”

“American Author’s upbeat music will be a great finale to an unforgettable race weekend as finishers celebrate the day’s accomplishments at Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas,” said Megan Miller, Event Manager. “We’re also excited to offer a special New Years promotion, particularly for anyone setting fitness resolutions this year. Our race in March is a great milestone to work towards a healthier lifestyle in 2014.”

American Authors is comprised of Zac Barnett (vocals), James Adam Shelley (guitar/banjo), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums). Together they hail from the four corners of the country, each bringing their own influences and experiences to the writing table to create pop-flavored alt rock sprinkled with four-part harmonies, spirited lyrics, and contagious optimism.

The half-marathon offers a fast and scenic course that highlights a perfect mix of Dallas’ metropolitan downtown and urban areas, charming neighborhoods including Highland Park and Swiss Avenue, culminating with a finish line festival at Fair Park.

Runners of all abilities can enjoy the half marathon experience by grabbing a partner and running the 2-Person Half Marathon Relay. All participants will receive perks including a commemorative finisher’s medal, Brook’s technical participant tee, swag bag and most importantly, a rockin’ half marathon memory.

Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find more than 100 vendors, interactive clinics with running experts and elite athletes, and much more. The Expo takes place at the Dallas Convention Center on Friday, March 21 from 12 pm to 6 pm and Saturday, March 22 from 9 am to 5 pm. The Expo is free and open to the public.
