DALLAS -- The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) is accepting applications for its 2014 Stars on the Rise Scholarship program through March 26th. The scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors in the North Texas area and applications are available online at www.gdhcc.com.
In the last 30 years, more than $22 million in scholarships have been awarded to approximately 3,000 students. Last year alone, 211 entering college freshman and continuing college students received $12.4 million in scholarships.
“Through the Stars on the Rise scholarship program, we’re investing in the success of the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs who will drive the growth of the North Texas economy,” said Rick Ortiz, GDHCC President and CEO. “It’s the generosity of scholarship donors, such as Ford Motor Company Fund, that makes it possible.”
“These scholarships are critical to many students who cannot afford to attend college otherwise,” said Beatrice Martinez, Education Chair for the GDHCC and 2014 Stars on the Rise Chair. “We’re committed to investing in their futures, because they’re the future of our community.”
“Education has been a top priority for Ford Fund since its start more than 60 years ago,” said Joe Avila, community outreach manager, Ford Motor Company Fund. “With the Ford Driving Dreams Tour scholarships, and together with the Ford North Texas dealers, we go further with the GDHCC to positively impact the lives of so many students.”
Stars on the Rise is the annual scholarship drive of the GDHCC and the GDHCC Institute for Leadership and Business Education.
