FORT WORTH, TX -- The Omni IMAX Theater at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History has been the largest IMAX dome in the United States west of the Mississippi River since its completion in 1983. At that time it was the first IMAX screen in the Southwest with an eight-story domed screen and 30-degree stadium seating.
The Omni’s 30th Birthday is coming up and the Museum wants to invite everyone to a weekend celebration. Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9 the Omni will be showing classic IMAX films that captivated countless audience members during their respective decades: the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Guests will be able to rediscover Dolphins, which explores the intelligence of one of mankind’s favorite ocean dwelling creatures and Everest, the chronicle of the painstaking climb to the peak of the highest mountain on Earth.
The Omni will also be showing Hail Columbia!, the first film shown in the theater.
